Two things that would really make things better for me are 1, a red hue for the interior light bulbs at night, the lighting overall is fine but the bright white bulbs are making me nutters. #2 how hard would it be to make the round advance ruler tool marked in degrees, rotate? or at least have the 0 line up with the bow of your ship. would be nice when doing manual Target motion observation to just draw a bearing line in the exact direction that you hear the noise. I would love a tool that worked like this cause I look silly holding a real clear 360 scale disk up to the screen to work this stuff out. let me know if any of you awesome mod folks care to give this a wack.

Use the protractor for the bearing thing. Start in front of your boat at bearing 000, drag to the middle of your boat, then the degrees it reads is the relative bearing from your boat. Helps a LOT if you're using a bearing overlay though. Much more simple fix than essentially creating a new map tool.
I thought someone had fixed the white lightbulbs, but can't find it right now. ![]() |

kylania, Thanks for the protractor tip, I never could get the hang of useful numbers out of that thing. I will give that a try tonight. all I ever used that for before was marking out detection range guesses.
in relation to relative bearing from your boat. using a real transparent one helps me a lot, and I use it with the in game ruler to work out where contacts are, with all of the map info turned off. do it enough, and work out a full solution of course speed and range given enough time. Is there some advantage to the one in the game having the scales 180 line up vertically with the map. I feel like I am missing something, but I can't think of any use to that round map tool unless I happen to be going due south I guess I thought it might not be that hard to mod as it is already an in game transparency that moves around on the map. The boat icons can be displayed at any angle, how much harder is it to rotate that texture in real time? I figured the hard part would be key bindings but if it could pull what angle to display at from the bow of what ever ship icon it is over that would be very useful indeed. I know it's not at the top of any ones list (nor should it be), just wondering if it is in the range of things that could be done eventually. until then I will try out the protractor method. thanks again all. |

The "upside down" 180 at the top compass that surrounds things like the ruler is wonderful since you can use it to quickly find a course. Drag it then check the number that's "behind it", like in these examples:

I guess thats the relative course.. now If I want the true course per sonar report, is there a mod for this.. (overlay or rotatable ruler for bearing plot (as in SH4 TMO)

this might interest you:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...postcount=1987 outer ring of draggable compass can be rotated. There are also north up and south up versions of the draggable compass in the mod. |
