Default Med Campaign Questions

I am looking ahead, and its a big if, as right now my guy is in 1939, but GWX has a well regarded med campaign, and many times you get transfered over.

Now, what boat is recommended for the med? Is it best to go from a IX to a VII?

Historically, only VII's operated in the med. Type IX's were too big and slow diving to be of any use, also their long operating ranges made them more useful elsewhere.

You can try in an IX if you sail from France, but the Med flotillas only use VII's and it's probably a good idea to use one too as a reduced diving speed will be very handy!

Type VII's all the way. The Med is like a knife fight in a telephone booth. You'll want the agility of the VII.

Cool analogy

Type VII for the win.
I'm in the Med, it's feb '43 and it's getting more and more difficult (and exciting) every patrol... be careful when the escorts get the new asdic device.

Heck, I am sure a II would be more more useful then a IX in the med, but I just wanted to make sure

My current guy, assuming he lives long enough, as I play DiD, is to do atlantic till the med heats up, do the med, and then finally move to Norway for the rest of the war, and not do the post Med Atlantic hustle...

But as i said, with my luck he will not make it out of 1939.

You can always play multiple careers with boats in different flotillas. I'ts usually a nice change of pace.
At first, I stuck with my original flotilla. I'd start out the same month my previous captain went down or was retired-I want to experience the whole war instead of starting over in 1939.

I took a little hiatus from subsimming and when I came back, I started a career in the Med for a change of pace.

Now, to keep things interesting and to add a little variety, I have careers in 6 different flotillas at various times in the war. I play one career until the sub is lost or the captain is retired and I move to another career in a different flotilla. I plan on cycling thru them like that until I see the end of the war.

It's worked pretty well so far. The Med and Black Sea careers are pretty different and are usually a nice change of pace from the cold, grey Atlantic.
