Crash after certain point in campaign - HELP!

This is hearbreaking and I'm hoping someone can help.

I FINALLY learned enough about my sub and the TDC to attempt a campaign using Sh4 and TMO. Sailed all the way into Empire waters, dropped a spy off of Honsho, sank a freighter, saved my game and went to bed dreaming about winning the rest of the war...

When I load my saved game -the game loads right up to the point where I expect to see the inside of the sub and it crashes with an error report.

I went back to an earlier save and started up again, ran past the point of the crash, saved again, and now that save produces the same result.

I would appreciate any advice on recovering this campaign. I dread starting another one over not knowing when I will get stuck again.

Try uninstalling the game and keeping saves, then reinstall it.

Do you have mods installed ?

I have defragged my hard drive and I will now reinstall everything but I sure hope I don't keep hitting this type of snag. I LOVE real sims with all the great work that the modders have done but like everyone else - hate all the tech work it takes to keep them running.
