Default Ain't no fish in this lake...

This is my first patrol with RSRDC, and I am getting an uneasy feeling that all is not well. The problem is a lack of activity.

We've been at sea for a month, and have not seen any evidence of ships out here.
I have completed two 4-day patrol objectives near the Rykyus and off the Bungo Suido, and am en route to a third. In the entire time, I have not had a single visual or acoustic contact. I have seen a few air patrols, and the aircraft are definitely aware there is a war on.

The sonar gear works. I do get normal acoustic contacts in the vicinity of Pearl or Midway, all friendlies. Also I I did do a time-compressed run into Naha and got a couple of harbor contacts there --- a probable escort and possible fish boat.

Maybe there was very little shipping in my current area in early 1942, but can someone verify that these quiet seas are what I should expect for this time and region? I think I have another two weeks of patrolling plus two weeks transit time before we run out of food.

My mod stack is this:
Trigger Maru 1.9
RSRDC_TMO_V502
RSRDC_V5XX Patch 1
SAP v0.5 stock RFB-RSRDC (Ship acceleration Physics
SAP v0.3_Stock RFB-RSRDC patch 1

Welcome to RSRD...that is the reason I gave it up, it may be historial but wasn't much fun. Best advise if find a historical convoy route map and follow those paths or huge the coast near harbors to find single unescorted merchants ships. Depending on your patrol objective don't stick to just your small partole area but move to high traffic areas. Convoy College is always good and the Tokyo to Truk route that goes just east of the Mariannas.

Actually, this is reassuring. Apparently the behavior is likely to be normal. I may press on for a while with altered tactics, and may also begin a new, parallel career that does not use RSRDC.

Thanks.

There is traffic in RSRD - you just need to know where to look.

Stumbled across this on way back to Java - 3 hours earlier (game time) I had been battling it out with 4 Heavy cruisers and a destroyer.

yea don't worry Denny. You will find your pray, and the kill will the be all the more sweet.

See if you can place your self so you patrol a shipping lane, fx. where it passes a narrow strait or where more routes gather at an intersection or passage.

My last voyage got me on the Tokyo-Truk shipping lane, and i found my self a Taihosan Maru and an Akita Maru. (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=107786&page=9)
