Default Enigma Rising Tide

Really don't know if this is the right forum I should come to post this one up. Seen that this is one of the most crowded forums so thought there will be a quicker reply...

Got Dangerous Waters years ago. It is sort of a rather hard-core in terms of taking control of the Perry Class Frigate, so I gave up!

I watched a few clips about Enigma on YouTube, impressive this one is ->

Even though the quality is a bit blurring, guess that's the max quality of a clip can go but still I can see how good and detailed the graphics are. If you watch the clip you can see the rough water roars with big waves after waves, so much so that some of them are up to deck levels!!

It isn't an arcade simulation is it? Is it worth buying?

I have 3 versions available on Amazon:

1) Enigma Rising Tide Gold Edition by Dreamcatcher Interactive - $49.99
2) Enigma Rising Tide by Dreamcatcher Interactive - $19.99
3) Enigma Rising Tide by Tri Synergy - $30.00

What is the Gold Edition, does it come with more stuffs like patches and add-ons?

Is Dreamcatcher Interactive its original publisher or Tri-Synergy is?

Why the two non-gold versions differ so much in price?

Its a good game if your not to worried about realism far more on the arcade side there is no manual targetting etc., just point your scope and fire, you can take command of the ships as well. Never owned the gold edition just the standard, if i remember right there was an important final patch for this game that added more missions & a basic editor. The graphics detail was tops for back then.

I'm sure Enigma is now a free download or was for a limited time, wasn't it on subsim for free

I bought ERT because I fancied the idea of being able to move from surface to submarine vessels. If its subs you're interested in then there are much better games around than ERT.

The AI is unreal. For example, you'll find that the gunnery of a sub's gun crew is deadly accurate but your gun crew are hopeless and can't hit the proverbial barn door. Given that the player can't be everywhere at once you need to rely on the AI for some things and in ERT you just can't.

Depth charging a submerged sub is pure chance—there doesn't seem to be any logic to it at all so there is no learning curve whatsoever, it's just like flipping a coin; it's a new deal every time.

Also you are trying to attack subs that can reload torpedo tubes in seconds, fire them (it would seem to me) sideways after you have just rammed the sub and can take several direct hits when on the surface and still submerge.

ERT should be good but it's not.
