Default GWX - Sunk by my own destroyer? And other questions.

So I've been searching around about GWX threads, after d/l-ing this mod a few days ago.

I like it, but a couple of questions that I couldn't find answers using the forum search.

1) I came back from a patrol and was opened up on by my own friendly destroyer. I went to P-depth, thinking I was maybe too far away for it to tell the difference. It passed over me, I surfaced...goodbye. Major "wtf?" moment. Wasted an hour patrol. How do I prevent this in the future?

2) Is there any way to lighten up underwater? I can barely see anything. May be realistic, but not that fun :/

All in all, the GWX mod's pretty fun. I'm constantly amazed at what they added - some serious work was done. It's like a new version of my game, which helped spice it up.

Anybody have some hints on how to edit these little annoyances? Much appreciated.

I've never been fired on by one of my own ships unless I had fired on a friendly myself. That's the stock in-game response to keep us from attacking friendlies and neutrals: 24 hours of hell. Unless that happened I don't know what to tell you. That's not normal behavior.

The easiest way is to get SH3 Commander. It does a great many things to make your experience much more enjoyable, including giving you one-click control over several in-game parameters. One of these is water density.

At a rough guess
You started the war in August 39 ?
Sunk a ship or two and then were fired at by your own DD on return ?

GWX starts in Aug 39 and as war doesnt break out till Sept ANY ship you sink before Sept wil make you an enemy of ALL nations - inc your own - as the whole world is neutral

If using SH3commander set days in port to 15 then run a 4 day patrol
Return to base without sinking anything and next patrol you will start around 19th Aug allowing you to make your way to patrol grid and be in position by war start
As was the case in RL

Of course you can use SH3commander to start in Sept also if you wish

Thanks for the welcome

I will look into SHCommander. I heard good things about it, but haven't gotten it yet.

bigboy - Yup, that's exactly what happened. I sank a few neutral freighters in the channel, on my way out to my patrol grid. Oops

Now that I know, it won't happen again. Thanks for the responses, guys!
