Default Questions about homing/pattern running torpedoes

Attention

Hey folks,

I have a few questions in regards to Falke/Zaunkoning I/II torps.

A) For a shot to have a high probability of hitting the target with less chances of torpedo misses with any Acoustic torpedo, what should the AoB be??

B) the acoustic torpedo sometimes has to be launched astern but on conducting a port/starboard evasive maneuver, specially with incoming DD @ 15-33 knots, it can turn around and backfire, what is the least detectable speed by which I can conduct maneuvers without worrying about my fish eating my own back..

C) What is the minimum trigger (follow) speed for the Falke/Zaunkoning torps.

I understand that Zaunkoning I/II traverses 400 meters then the warhead becomes active and tracks the loudest sound, which is least must be .....Kt

D) If I fire 2 torps in succession, and I immediately shut the engines off, would the second home in on the first? and as a result, if I target a ship, would they both hit the same mark??

E) For Pattern running torpedoes, like FaT, and LuT, what is the best AoB setup for increasing hit versus incoming convoys,

and how should the boat be aligned in general when attacking a convoy using such torps?

Should I put the boat in between both lines??

Sorry for the exam style questions skippers.

Feedback is much appreciated..

I'm probably by no means an expert with these torpedoes. But they are the only ones I carry out to see when playing with the German boats, when I can get them.

I have found, it best to lead the target like you would any other normal shot. I like to have the torpedo aimed at the bow of the ship regardless of its heading. The torpedoes start zigzagging when they close to the target. If you aimed at the bow, then the torpedo will start turning towards the stern. So a shot where this ship is closing on you is best. Sometimes you can get the torpedo to hit in the center.

I like to set my torpedo depth at exactly keel depth or maybe a half meter deeper. Since these torpedoes tend to want to chase the ship. They tend to hit the screws or rudder more often. A deeper run will sometimes have the torpedo go past the screws and get into some of the meatier parts of the ship and do more damage.

A lot of times these torpedoes are as deaf as a post. And they wont chase the target. You just have to live with it or make sure you get them in closer to the target. If you can, you should target the ship like you would with a straight runner. If the torpedo is deaf, then you can still make a hit from the straight run.
