Can I re-load a dead campaign

I died last night trying to attack scappa flow but i really want to get the campaign back. If i go into the game and load the captain's save game will he reappear alive in SH3 Commander?

SH3 Commander won't allow you to load a dead career. If you load a new career through SH3 Commander then change the career name to the dead one once SH3 has loaded you will have the option to go to one of your previous save points.
