Okay, finally got to the point where I can tolerate the idiosyncrasies of SH5/w WOS but after encountering my first large convoy ran into a bit of an annoyance. A little odd to find a 25 ship convoy near the Shetlands in February compromised almost entirely of Liberty Ships (at least the hull model) but that's neither here nor there.
More importantly, as I began engaging in a night time running surface shoot and scoot I ran into something that was making me want to tear my hair out. "Task Force Sighted" every 1-2 minutes as a ship on the far side of the convoy was lost and reacquired by the lookouts. Which dropped me back to 1x TC. It doesn't seem like a such a big deal until I tried to play out the next several hours worth of attacks. The constant notifications made it frustrating as hell as I couldn't run even a low level of TC for more than a few seconds before I got dropped back to 1x TC. Tried adjusting the options but couldn't find any setting that would prevent this. What would I need to adjust so that the message box notifications don't drop me all the way of TC? Also have sunk nearly 400k worth of tonnage (Baltic, Coastal Waters, and invaded Scapa Flow) and cannot for the life of me get the campaign goals to tick off. Am not getting the option to select a mission when in the Sub Pen, is currently Feburary 1940. At what point will I get offered new missions? |

One way you can do it is by editing your main.cfg where you have Time Compression (should see this section when you open it in notepad) located in:
C:\Users\username\Documents\SH5\data\cfg Look for Enemy Detected=1 and make it =8 or =16 or whatever. However, this will be the default for every time an enemy is detected which could see you fatally damaged before you realize they are there so I'd suggest that when travelling you turn on the option at the top right of the GUI named TCx1 on any message box. Of course this could cause even more frustration if you are in shallow waters for example so it might be best to just live with the sighting messages as they are I'm afraid. There may be an option in TDW's OptionsFileEditor but if it made things better without serious other compromises I'm sure it'd already be default. Unfortunately, issues like these are something we subsimmers have to live with and you sometimes just have to try to ignore it. Just consider it an over-enthusiastic Bernard trying to prove himself as a capable watchman. ![]() As far as the mission completion goes, all missions are now date based in WoS, there are no progress bars at all, so you're free to do as you wish without penalty, bar sinking friendlies or neutrals. I'm sure someone can give you some firm dates on progression and when new missions will appear, but in the meantime, just concentrate on cutting off those essential supplies.
