Default [REQ]Need crew reactions

Silent Hunter has been wantonly void of proper crew reaction to a success. Not only are the explosions an anti-climax (Sound), but the crew just continue chewing gum and looking around!

Surely UBI put something in but failed to implement it properly? Surely the modding team can at least come up with a mild cheer?

Actually the guy on the valves next to the planesmen does have a cheer animation when you hit something.

Actually no. That's stock. I'm not doing anything revolutionary. I just looked through the files, figured out what the devs intended to do and built my own version of it. The animations and script triggers they included were my guide. I couldn't do anything if they hadn't built it. No doubt they would have greatly expanded on it if it had survived the schedule/budget triage. I'm sure we'll see it expanded on in patches.

Here's some of the things they included but didn't get fully implemented.
Triggers and animations for torpedo fired, hit and miss (mostly implemented). There's animations for a guy holding a stopwatch. They have triggers and animations for the hunter/hunted state (implemented). Triggers and animations for nearby explosions and when taking damage(implemented). Animations for damage control parties. The scripts and associated files have all kinds of hints for how this was all supposed to come together. I just put two and two together.

One thing that does appear to be lacking is sounds to go along with it. I think it's ok to use some of the SH3/4 sounds for the crew yelling and whatnot. That's part of what I'm working on for 1.3.

Default Amazing stuff

I wish I had your ability to analyse and mod this stuff.

Unfortunately, SH3 and 4 had many things, like voice, that were never implemented by any patches. I doubt SH5 will see any changes.

I reviewed the cheer .ogg files for both versions and it was pretty lame indeed. One guy saying 'yay'.

Someone should have a beer party with 4 or 5 friends and record them just as a hockey goal or football score is made. That is what it would be like.

These guys have just gone through, perhaps hours of tracking and stalking a target. One guy saying 'yay' is just a little anti-climatic to me.
