Default U-409 & u-767?

Just randomly curious...
Has anyone taken command of U-409 or U-767?

If so they hold a "special" intrest to me..

My farther served on HMS Inconstant and HMS Wilton as a Sonar/Asdic operator and both these Destroyers were credited with the sinking of these U-Boats.

He had the unfortunate pleasure of the Arctic run to Murmansk and Archangel later in the war.
Heard some amazing stories from him and his veteran friends. Especially one of them whos ship was hit by a torp throwing him into the icy Russian waters.

Its because of him I am into U-boats and sub sims. He used to Hijack my Amiga 500 and 1200 just for Silent Service II. I sware that Christmas present was a stealth buy for him.

So if you are in either of these boats dont have hard feeling towards the Royal Navy Destroyer that gets you

Will add a pic of him later..

Looking forward to seeing your fathers photo.

I lost my father this past December 7th (anniversary of Pearl Harbour) he was 86 years young and a veteran of the Murmansk convoys.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...well+my+friend

He sailed in the only convoy to Murmansk that didn't have a RN escort (all escorts were diverted to the Sicily invasion)...only three ships ever returned.

I should imagine had both our fathers ever met they would have shared a mountain of memories and experiences.

God bless them all.

~SALUTE~

Pic is a few years old but a good one.
Here he is on the right.
The chap in the middle is Cmdr Ed Grenfell who's ship was hit and spent time in a Russian hospital, he is the leader of their veteran group
The guy on the left was my dad's best friend who passed away over a year ago.

Some mighr recignise the white berets they are pretty famous, not to be confused witrh the cream ones who are RAF Police

I feel quite Honored only being 27 haveing a WW2 veteran as a farther.

I'd like to express my feelings for both of your fathers!

(and I thank them to help us to get rid of the Nazi-dictatorship)

SALUTE!
