Default I finally found a reason to get upset with sh5 (Funny bug)

February 1940, the type VII boat U-69 patrolling north of scotland on the way back home, low on fuel and with only two rear torpedoes left, my watch spots a wake on the port side.

BRITISH SUBMARINE(en)! They say, quickly i spring into action and bring the boat into position for a perfect stern shot, high speed, surface, we'll get this tommie. Dive to periscope depth!

I than notice that the deck gun icon is still on on the top of the screen, so i hit the f5 key to bring them off of the deck before they get too wet, and sit and wait for this helpless U class to steam into my trap.

All of a sudden i hear *CRACK* (boom), my deck gun crew has opened fire at the limits of their range, from 12 meters under water! They land two hits before the sub dives away and i steam back to wilhelmshaven wondering what might have been.

Still, bagged 56,000 tons in that patrol, a sub would have been icing on the cake. Damn it SH5!

If you Man the deck gun with F5 and secure it with WO, or vice versa, the icon on the top will show the opposite.
So apparently you had the icon above and thought the deck gun was manned, but it was not. And when you hit F5 and thought you unmanned it, you really manned it instead.

it sucks.

Not sure but even if you were to get your shot on the sub and it sank to the bottom it wouldn't register as credit on your log. At least the two subs I've sunk never have registered.

Caught one with 2 torpedo's right in her nose. Watched her dive right into the seabed then disappear through it, never got the credit

Yup, it's a bug, sub kills don't credit any tonnage.
