Default Can't Nail Anything Down

So, being a fan of SH3 and SH4, I decided to take the plunge and get SH5 despite the DRM. It hasn't given me any grief so far, so I'm happy at the moment. But that's not why I'm here...

I started a campaign and got through the first mission easily enough. No problems there. So I decided to hop back in and head to Britain's nearest coast to try and sink 50K tons there. Sounds simple enough, right?

Wrong. It seems my luck is HORRIBLE. I can't seem to find anything except a couple of aircraft patrols. Those ships I do find seem to always be heading away from me, and I can never catch up no matter what I do. I'm zipping around the coast aimlessly and can't catch a thing. I'm going nuts here! What can I do to catch and kill something?

Try using stealth! Its really what u-boats were designed for in the first place!

That video helped me out. I restarted the mission from scratch, and when I got near the actual mission point on the map, I came across a perfect opportunity, a merchant ship I could intercept. Using the information from the video, I GOT HIM. Sunk him easily. Then, another just appeared, to which I sunk just as quickly. A great start this time around. Thanks for the help, I needed it.

Now, another problem. I used up a fair chunk of torpedoes. I can get one more ship, but I need to resupply. I asked over the radio, but they said no. I don't want to have to hoof it all the way back to Kiel from British Coast to resupply. Can I head to one of the closer friendly ports to resupply, or am I stuck going back to Kiel?

UPDATE: Now I've found and sunk a third ship. Out of torpedoes completely. Do I need to head back to Kiel, or will one of the closer friendly ports help in my resupply?

Very nice. Went to Wilhelmshaven to refit and got more torpedoes. I then went back and claim a fourth lone merchant ship that took three torpedoes, but still lived. I then finished it with the deck gun. Awesome moment there.
