I was on my way home north of the coast of Scotland when my watch crew suddenly spotted a destroyer. Wasn't a very succesful patrol to that point, terrible weather and quite a few wasted torpedos... As I watched the DD another one came out of the fog. Followed by another. And another. And something big. Turned out to be a taskforce with 6 DDs, a battleship and a battlecruiser, the mighty Hood!
![]() Sadly, I had only one torpedo left in the aft tube... ![]() Still, I got into position within the destroyer screen and desperately fired my single fish at the Hood. Result was a perfect hit, 6m below the waterline, dead center. And while I watched the impact from 600m suddenly the whole ship blew up! Flames from bow to stern, and while I still stared at the carnage in diesbelief she already rolled over and sank into the sea... ![]() ![]() Was to flabbergasted to actually take a screenie when she blew up. It's exactly these kind of things that make me so enjoy SH5, despite all the problems. ![]() |

I was chasing a fast moving merchant in a horrible storm. All I had was occasional hydrophone contacts. I couldn't see ANYTHING on the bridge. It was a mess.
Then, in the waves, i spotted it's wake!! I blindly shot a torpedo where I thought it might be based on the wake and heard an explosion! Muhaha! Finally caught sight of it on fire, it was like 300m away from me. Some how my deck gun crew braved the hurricane and took it down. ![]() |
