Default Call me crazy but...

The more I play this game the more I am liking it. As I sit at home during the day and look for a new job I am playing this game almost non stop. At least on my custom PC (quad core AMD) the game is very solid, no crashes, no freezing, graphics are very good, shading...no issues here.

Yes the interface GUI has a lot to be desired and some of the dialect between the crew is a bit minor it is actually a fun game to play.

Lets remember SHIII when it first came out, or how about SHIV, lets just forget about SHII, that was just a lost cause to begin with :-) Point is no subsim yet when first released has been the greatest game you ever played, the greatest game you had hoped for or thought you were promised, it just doesnt work that way. I remember when SHIII first came out and all the CTD posts like it was yesterday. SHIII didnt get good till the Grey Wolves & Super Mods made it what it is today. Lets not forget even SHI, that game had three upgrades to it plus the Commanders version.

I am not saying we should all surrender and love this game, there are some things I dont like but no doubt in my mind that in time with the work that is going on right as I type in the mod section of the forum and the mods yet to be seen this game is going to be Very Good.

Till then I am going to try to get good at firing these torpedoes at moving ships and actually hit them :-)

No, I understand you. I wrote in another thread that I just had a total blast engaging a troop convoy, great fun! Still doesn't change the fact that SH5 at the moment is a buggy, unfinished mess. Doesn't mean I can't have fun with it, but the fun wil run out quickly for me if quite a lot of things won't get fixed. And fixed soon.

Well, a couple of mods came out in the last day that make it actually playable for me! (3 dials, no morale) I haven't popped back in yet, but maybe when I actually start it up today... good chance I might be enjoying it.

It really boils down to how much do you want to put up with.

For me, shelling out $60 and finding a slew of bugs with a clunky interface on a game that is still based on a 5-year old game engine is unacceptable.

If people can overlook the 4,985 things that need fixing and find enjoyment in sinking a few ships, more power to 'em. I don't happen to fall into that category.

4,985 things need fixed, is that an accurate number? Can you list say the first 2,000 items for me

I'll stand by you. I'm enjoying playing too.
I've been absent from these forums for some time. I said recently that I was enjoying being back, and, on the whole I am. But, I'm afraid to say, that I come away from the forum with a bad taste in my mouth. It feels like some members are on an agenda here. The DRM is evil, I'm not buying this game, Ubisoft sucks, etc.

We know how you feel, you've told us, ad nauseum. Thank you.

I love the fog and rain in this game. I don't know what it was like in SH3 but I love being on the bridge in heavy rain/fog, with waves bouncing the boat around and waves coming over the tower. Then a get a glimpse of something, fight to get a look and oh god a escort. Pop open the hatch and rush down to crash drive. Get into the sound room and I notice 3 or 4 ships join the escort and the occasional DC going off in the distance. For all the problems, moments like that are hard to beat.

Stuff like that makes me really excited for some patches and mods to allow what was done right to really shine in this game.

Same here,
the more I get used to the gui and after mapping out key commands on my G15 and G13 I am starting to enjoy the game.
Now that a temp fix for morale and that 3 dial gauge is out I see no problems stopping me from enjoying the game!

I think the new GUI was a shocker for many people and coupled with the new DRM has created Lot's of negative reactions.

Ditto here, with mods I find it quite enjoyable.

Buggy yes, but still enjoyable.
