Default I`m amazed...

That so many people seem quite happy to condone this draconian 24\7 system and buy the game.

I fear for the future of computer games, truly I do. I just hope when something really important happens like the government makes certain policies that affect you, you will at least stand up and not back down when the government ignores you.

Guess I and a very few will be the sole ones with any backbone and stand by our principles. I shall never buy while this 24\7 DRM exists- NEVER, NEVER- NEVER!

Yea, the Mods will probably delete\ban\suspend\burn\destroy this.

Getting used to it.

Talking about draconian, I hear the sirens of the DRM-topic police....

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.

I agree in principle, but accusing the folks who do want the game now and don't care about the 24/7 (or even like it) of having no backbone is uncalled for and more than a little rude.

It's good to stand up for something, but always keep in mind that you could be wrong about it.

I'm amazed that some people are so bent out on this...

I had no problem buying the game, although I will test the hell out of this system's promises with multiple PCs, save transfers and so forth.

Those of you sceptics may also be "happy" to know that perhaps the only feature of the "leaderboard" that is part of the online system so far is all the ridiculous accounts and records with "cracked" and "crack test" written all over them.

I think Ubi will change something. However so far in my playing, the effect has been zilch and the game is doing no worse than SH4. If I install it on my other PC and it actually runs as advertised - well well, then it'll even be doing better than SH4....

your opinions are just as valid as anyone elses and we only step in if lines are crossed, we dont limit speech here but we will object to insults or rude comments

to your point:
i think you are wrong about the "very few", i think the very few are the ones who are actually buying the game.

it is only natural that buyers of the game are the only voices in the room because non buyers have nothing to talk about.

i think UBI will lose about 40% of possible sales they would have had without DRM but they seem ok with that so lets see how it goes.

I'd be happy if Neal made a DRM forum.

Even better, I'd love to see a thread dedicated to the folks who are willing to stand up and say "I still haven't bought SH5 and won't until OSP is removed."

Otherwise, folks like me are going to continue to stand up and do our best to be heard. I figure the rest of y'all will either get tired of hearing us and ignore us, or get tired of hearing us and do your best to censor/shut us up. No hard feelings, mind you, but I'm gonna do my best to be heard.

The constant connection, at face value, isn't what's bothering me... my gaming desktop is constantly connected, and I have a very reliable ISP. It's just that I see that OSP as the first step down a very slippery slope. OSP doesn't provide me any direct benefit. Their alleged benefits are simply not benefits for me. I fear the reliability of their servers. I fear what they may be using the connection for. I fear what they may use the connection for in the future. I fear what they may be doing to my system with that connection. I do not trust Ubisoft to limit themselves.

I also fear this "attitude"... the producers provide the client with a "license" to use the software, the way they say we're allowed to use the software, with all the limitations implied. I bought the software, so I should be able to use the software, with the reasonable limitations imposed by law.

Up to this point, I've been content to deal with the limitations imposed by most DRM. OSP goes too far, and I will not cross that line.

George! You're alive!

Good to hear your opinion on this, even though I personally disagree.

If people choose to not buy the game, that's fine. The problem I have is with the few zealots who feel the need to sidetrack every thread or harass and insult the people who don't share their views. When we all stay in our own playpens, it works pretty good.

I am! Drop by the GT forum, we need to catch up. You're just one of the people I missed from here

As far as DRM, listen, I'm just trying to stay on the positive side of this. I will give it the benefit of the doubt even if I totally agree it's unnecessary. It is yet to infringe of my liberty in any way that I would directly feel. I REALLY wish it wasn't there to be honest, but it hasn't done anything bad. If it does, I will be mad. However it's been smooth sailing so far. All it does is remind me of its presence sometimes. Any benefits to it are yet to be seen however.

we had several dedicated threads and even stickies for everyone to say their feelings but at some point you cant expect to spam/troll (yes at some point it is spam/trolling) the forum dedicated to the sh5 game and not have threads moved merged deleted or start getting infractions based on refusing to stop spaming/trolling the forums.

we arent trying to stop speech here but very soon you will begin to see all DRM related discussions immediately sent to the general topics forum or simply have the threads closed.

we arent going to allow a vocal group large or small to take over a forum with unrelated posts to the point that those who want to discuss the game are being interfered with or having their threads burried by DRM threads.

Once again Heretic, I couldn't agree more with your words!

My guess is that by keeping this attitude:

They are ruining their own mental health. It looks like they are going into depression, and all this for a computer game.
