Default Error trying to run GWX 3.0

OK, I've run GWX 2 for a while, and wanted to upgrade to GWX3.

I downloaded all the files. I uninstalled SHIII, and deleted the ubisoft directory in c:/program files, and the SH3 folder in My Documents.

The raw stock game runs fine.

When I install GWX 3, the video screens run, I get the torpedo screen, and when the red bar is all the way across I get this error:

When I click OK, I get this error:

When I click OK, SH3 crashes to desktop.

Any ideas?

The game must be uninstalled via the disc (or perhaps the Revo Uninstaller?) and all the residual files removed, including any left in the Ubisoft folder and the SH3 folder in My Documents. Most people have found that it is necessary to run a registry cleaner also to remove residual files in the registry. In my case, I had to remove the key in the InstallShield folder as it kept replacing it in the registry.

Next a clean, fresh copy of SHIII v1.4b must be installed and then the GWX3.0 installer. If SH3CMDR is used, the config files must be installed.

It is best to use one of the newer SH3 discs that is already patched to 1.4b and omits the Starforce program and drivers.

On the download of GWX, it is necessary to run the MD5 to ensure a good dl.
Finally, if installed on a computer with Windows7 or Vista, it is necessary to install the game in a separate folder outside of the program or program (86) folders, and to ensure that the virtual store folder does not contain a copy of the game from a prior install.

Ding! We have a winner. What an idiot I am.

Thanks! All runs well now.

Also this is the first time I used JSMGE (or whatever it is called). I installed some of the optional things that come with GWX that I never tried before - enhanced damage (LOVE the huge flaming fireballs!), open-hatch mod (cool!), and I installed the Lifeboats and Debris mod. LOVE LIFEBOATS AND MEN SCREAMING FOR HELP!

My old computer is about 5 years old now (AMD 64 3200) with an X1950 AGP graphics card. I'm building a new one now with a Core i7-920. Can't wait to take a sub out for a spin with it!
