Okay, I started do play the game again some weeks ago.
Now I learned how to do Dick O'Kane's (90°), John P. Cromwell (45°) and vector analysis (any angle) attacks. Now my question is:in which situation you use one or anoher. Or it is left entirely at skipper's discretion? I use: DOK - single merchants, small and ligthly defended convoys (99% of times); JPC - big, highly valuable military targets, heavily defended convoys - in a formation somewhat like this: .........DD .....Ship Ship DD Ship Ship DD ..........DD ...........................me VA - almost never, only when I screw up my interception route entirely. So, how are they to be used, how were they used and how do you use it? (but, I got say, TMO +RSRD + tactics above = lots of fun! PK on - never more!!!)

As for the PK its just another tool in your bag. In the PTO there were some skipper and XO's that were extremely proficient and deadly with it. It can provide a lot of information if used correctly. Again, I get lazy and tend not to focus to much on it but on occasion it does the job. Happy Hunting!

The skipper with the most tricks in his bag of tricks bags the most! Get comfortable with the widest possible range of attact tactics. Only then can you have the right utensils available no matter what's on the menu.

Yep seeing this makes me more and more convict that everyone has it own style...and that's okay, because what matters is the tonnage you make. So, more and more I come to the conclusion: in this nice community there are (so far) 16130 (!) skippers on the Captain's Roster. So there must be 16130 different ways of getting the job done. Talk about replayability!!! Every time you play is something different: - Single mission on RSRD to a sub called USS Redfish. Did it with a Porpoise (my preferred so far). Objective is to sink a IJN flattop. Tried Dick O'Kane's to no avail. Got detected every single time. Tried vector anaiisys, got lost on it and fired from too far away. Then, tried John P. Cromwell's. Worked nicely. Two torps missed astern, but two hit exactly where she crossed the wire. Amazing. - Campaign: single merchant out with Dick O'Kane's. Reloaded the mission. DOK again, but this time two duds... Got lucky on the first time. Man, I love this game!

I use Vector more or a form of it mixed with Easy AOB. I prefer to shoot multiple targets, so have to mix it up. It can be hard to pull Okane off on a well escorted TF or convoy. Spend all that time setting up and the DD's ruin it. I prefer JC on TF at night, you come in at a needed angle so you don't get pinged and have time to shoot again.
