Default Sawyer vs. Obama: Sawyer wins!

'Lost' wins out over State of the Union

Whew! What's wrong with Obasma, he trying to get impeached?

Quote:
"I don't foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in Lost are pre-empted by the president," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told AP today.
"Say what, son?"

Maybe some of the cast members at Lost should run for office. Better ratings, more fun to watch, and they damn sure couldn't do any worse.

Score one for Lost fans!

President Obama will not give his State of the Union speech on Feb. 2, the night ABC has scheduled the premiere of the show's sixth and final season. The mere mention of the date had sent fans racing to launch a Twitter protest campaign earlier this week.
The people of the United States of America are on a roller-coaster headed straight for oblivion and are taking the nation with them. While I am by no means an Obama fan, I still intend to watch the State of the Union speech. What has happened to our once great and proud nation, a nation with a can-do attitude and spirit? That's right, they're too busy caring about what fictitious character in whatever fictitious television show is doing. Nevermind that these people where foaming at the mouth for Obama just one year ago, and now they could care less.

This is why America is in the shape it's in. People bitch and complain about their elected leaders, but when it comes to actually being engaged in the political process and actually y'know, doing something about it, they'd rather watch TV.

There can't be a change in the system unless it starts from the bottom up. And at this point, it looks like the idiots in this country are more interested in bread and circuses.

Well, what did he expect? Trying to tangle with the Locke!

I jest, I jest, although John Locke is awesome

It's not just the United States where this kind of thing is happening, I think it's pretty much the entire western world. Perhaps its a symbol of the decline into decadence when the peoples motivations can be assured by the continued supply of luxaries. The mass media and tabloid journalism are two great examples of the priorities of the media these days, can one say Tiger Woods? But like I say, it's not just in the United States, the apathy towards the political system is ripe in the United Kingdom, even more so than in the US, I believe that the common feel of the people is "Yes, Gordon Brown is an idiot, but so is Cameron and Clegg." It is a bit like the poster for Alien vs Predator...whoever wins, we lose. However there is so much division on a social level that the level of unity required among the masses for an uprising is rather missing.

Are you referring to John Locke or Obasma?

I've seen enough SOU addresses to know they don't mean much. President will list his accomplishments to date (ha! that's a challenge), outline the challenges ahead, extoll the Amerr-ican people, and propose a flurry of new programs that are basically pork to get certain segments of the population enthused. Maybe he will flash his Nobel prize medal for good measure

Yes, I think it's not important enough to disrupt our lives for, he can make his speech during a slow day. He better not mess with the Super Bowl either.

Yeah!! Bush was so awesome!!! I wonder how often he gets the question: "Can you put that in layman's terms?"

Say huh? Last I recall there was going to be 'hope' and 'change'...from the bottom up. We have not seen a darn thing other than spending and ignoring the better part of what Americans want. Really, who wants to listen to an hour of Obummer? Specifically when nothing has been done of any means or measure. We got a guy who won a Nobel for basically hanging out. Perhaps America is already fed up and Lost looks a bit more promising for the evening. Certainly Washington has nothing promising. As far as doing something about it there has been. People march on Washington. Called or written their Congressmen. For what? So we can have closed door healthcare discussion. It is the same old clap trap and the same old state of the union deal. Oh, keep the eye on the ball in Afghanistan..no wait...is it Yemen today? Talk about getting snowed by the Obummer campaign....I mean really snowed.

Hmm tough choice...

On the one hand you have a long rambling indeterminate television programme that doesn't make much sense goes on for too long and you are none the wiser as to what was just said or has happened, leaving you with more questions than answers

I always wondered why there is this hype over Lost in America.

The idea was okay, but they should have left it to one season or a mini series, then solving it. In Germany, it lost interest soon during the second season. The latest season is starting in some weeks - after a long delay.

Me, they have lost me long time ago. I'm even not intersted in the solution.

Again, good idea, but they squeezed and tried to milk it for much too long.

Correction they both take both of those resources from you (Advertising), the difference is one takes some thought to understand the outcomes the other doesn't. I'll let you chose which is which.
