Default Got the English version

I downloaded this game Xmas Eve and got to say its a disappointing game. I knew it had no dynamic campaign and no mission editor but it could have been a great game with either or both of these.

I'm counting on the mods. The missions are "just" 60kb or so of Python code, and not terribly complicated Python at that. An external dynamic campaign engine could generate new missions with not terribly much overhead.

The missions are 60kb because they are so goddamn short....
IMHO The only 'mod' that could really save PT boats, would be if someone ported its entire 3d content over to the Silent Hunter 5 platform.
Viola!! Dynamic Campaign & mission editor
After spending £30 on this unfinished product I would feel little remorse for Akella TBH.

I still cant belive it took more than 6 years in the making..... I really had high hopes for Knots, and I really, really wanted to like it!

That is sad. I was going to use it for a filler until SH5. This is starting to be the 80's all over again with poorly produced game after another.

Me too, unfortunaly it only provides about 3 days worth of filler, not 3 months

I remember back in 2002 olleg talking about this game saying it was going to be released "next year" (2003) and that date kept getting pushed back. until sometime in 2005 I lost interest in this game. It leads me to believe that this game is based on 7 year old technology which is why todays computers are having difficulty running this code. No offence ment to oleg he just couldnt find a distributor for this title until this year. the price is the only factor keeping me from buying it.

If you want filler I suggest Over flanders fields a total conversion of CFS3 to a WWI sim. Pilot based simulation ie: pilot dies you have to create a new pilot and start campaign over

I played for about 45 minutes before bitching myself out for laying out the dollars before reading the reviews. I really hoped for better.

Default Hope for a Mission editor in the first patch!!!!

I have preordered the game as soon as it was available at Battlefront and downloaded it at Christmas but as loaded the first thing I see and the most disappointing me is the absence of the Mission Editor so the game live is really short and the customization is absent!!!

I hope to see asap the first patch with at last the mission editor...a Campaign Generator too would be the best!!!

cheers

Well, we all knew it did not come with Mission editor yet and most of the issues you stated were already public before Battlefront released its version so I am surprised you are surprised

However if you take a deep look into the game you would discover this game was done with love by the initial creators.
With a mission editor that would be released at one time or another and with the help of the modders I am sure we will have a nice game for suface engagements in the future.

Of course at this point I think the game it is still in "beta" but give it time.

Anyway I have to say that it is a shame that such great game was released by Akella in that condition, completely neglected.
I hope that with Battlefront help and most importan with the comunity help we can make a great game of it.

LOL SHII and DC were initially sold on even worse state and there is still people playing those after the convenient patches and mods.
Be patient, we do not have a surprlus of Naval warfare sims avalaible as to happily drop this one on the basket.

I tried the russian demo and it made my mind up not to buy the game yet i have now tried the english demo in case i was missing control keys or settings but have not change my mind .
I agree with most people it has the chance to be a great game if the moders take it up but i think it may not keep them intrested to merit all the work it will need .
I am not a moder but greatly enjoy all their hard work ,I lost my job after a heart attack and started paying sh3 cheep from my local supermarket then sh4 it has been a great help this site to me .
I am now back to part time work
