Default Find 'Em, Chase 'Em, Ship 'Em

I would like to nominate my wife, Cathy for Subsim Wife of the Year. Here is a list of the books she gave me this morning for Xmas.

The Luck of the Draw-The Memoir of a World War II Submariner From Savo Island to the Silent Service-Captain C. Kenneth Ruiz, USN (Ret.)

Find 'Em, Chase 'Em, Sink 'Em-The Mysterious Loss of the WWII Submarine USS Gudgeon-Mike Ostlund

Final Patrol-Don Keith

The Galloping Ghost- The Extraordinary Life of Submarine
Legend Eugene Fluckey-Carl LaVO

Nothing Friendly in the Vicinity- My Patrols on the USS
Guardfish during WWII-Claude C. Conner

War Patrols of the Uss Flasher-The True Story of One of
America's Greatest Submarines, Officially Credited with
Sinking the Most Japanese Shipping in World War II-William R. McCants

Through Hell and Deep Water-Charles A. Lockwood Vice Admiral USN (Ret.) Hans Christian Adamson Colonel USAF (Ret.)

Sink Em' All- Charles A. Lockwood Vice Admiral USN (Ret.)

U-Boat-Lothar-Gunther Bucheim

War Fish-George Grider as told to Lydel Sims

Bacalao-J.T.McDaniel

She has previously obtained the following at least somewhat hard to find books:

Torpedoman-Ron Smith

The Rescue-A True Story of Courage & Survival in World War II-Steven Trent Smith

Wake of the Wahoo- The Heroic Story of America's Most Daring WWII Submarine, USS Wahoo-Forest J. Sterling

I was totally blown away! On top of the 1-2 dozen WWII Sub books I already own I feel like I should start a lending library. In the course of attempting to locate these books she spoke with the author of "War Patrols of the USS Flasher" who is the son of the Flasher's Captain, Thomas R. McCants and even he didn't have any more copies! If I know my wife, she probably paid less than retail list price for most if not all of these. She gives me all the support and Tender(ness) assistance and love that I need.
I foresee a frequent nightly Dilemma-do I read a Sub book or fire up Silent Hunter 4?

Dang! She dropped a library in your lap. You certainly found the right mate. Merry Christmas!

I don't know, mine may have that beat, but I would have to add the sub books up, cuz I get a lot of Civil War books.

You can do what I did though to honor her. Find a picture you like and put her in your sub as one of the posters....There's a reason you never see SS's of inside my sub....not really x-rated, but only my pretend crew get's to smack her rear for luck.

Default might be trouble

No matter how you balance your available time between reading, playing the game, working, bathing, and eating. I find no way you have time to share the quality of life with your family, and I think they call that marital discord...........Congratulations on some fine reading..........Enjoy.

I am the cook in the family, if I didn't cook, we wouldn't eat. We exchanged gifts and then Cathy and the dog(Menace) left for work. I have been home cooking a big Thanksgiving style turkey dinner. MMMM...sausage, apple and cranberry stuffing, killer smashed potatoes, butternut squash, and gravy-Yeah Baby! And homemade Key Lime pie for dessert.

I don't get Christmas until tomorrow but here's what I would do:

While in patrol areas I only run at 64 or 128x time compression. This gives me lots of time to read while waiting for contact reports. Kill 2 birds with one torp.

Merry Christmas and good hunting.
