Default OT: Interesting US Navy paper on Doenitz

Although this is quite off topic, this is probably the best forum for people who would be interested in something like this. I just came across it while searching for something else, didn't see any other mention of it on the forums.

It is from the Naval War College, Newport, RI and dated 1995. I doubt it contains anything new for people who have read alot on the topic, but I found it interesting that 40 years later, modern navies are still studying him.

Well for what it's worth, enjoy:

Doenitz was a genious no doubt, one of the greatest personalities of the second world war.. Most surviving uboat commanders came to his funeral,.. many also felt bitter at his nurnberg trial prison sentence.

Most people have a great admiration for Doenitz,.. but I wonder if some (families & relatives) ..hold him responsible for the high losses of uboat crews.. namely the 31,000 that went to the bottom
