2009 Woldwide Year in Review Thread

I like looking back at the years top events, stories, pictures, and found tons of stuff albeit most of it seemed to be US centric. (Might be because I live here and read in English)

I'd like to see other countries "Year in Review" stories. I think it would be interesting.

So I was hoping that "all ya foreigners" could share links to your countries reviews for 2009. Lists like 2009 Top 50 News Pictures, Notable Deaths of 2009, things like that, whatever list you want to post. Also, anyone (even you Yanks) can pop in a link to anything interesting.

I'll start off with:

Altough your thread have the potential of being very interesting, it's sometimes hard for us in foreign countries to find someting about us in english or with english subtitles.

But if you're looking for some non-serious thing, here's a very cool college initiation (september 2009).
