Default Pacific Oscars (Pics)

Found some of these the other day, thought id share there some nice pictures of Russian oscar II and Akulas.
all these boats you see are based out of the Russian pacific fleet and will either be assigned to vladivostok (main base like sevdvinsk is for the northern fleet) or Kamchatka.

Enjoy

Nice shots... from the looks of things they must be begging for a little global warming.

The 'rear' shot of the oscar, the tube atop the tailfin, I assume thats for a towed array of some sort?

Yes its for the towed array, if you look closely to the oscar II and also delta IV the tails are exactly the same, the oscars also trail the same towed array as the Delta IV's

Great stuff as always Kap, always good to see them about Gotta love Soviet/Russian design, always thinking outside the box, and sometimes it really paid off.
