My windows 8 problem....

Okay...Ive done the search for the problems of installing SHIII on a Windows 8 machine. Here is my problems.....first off, when I install it...I create a folder under C:\Programs...call it ubisoft, or SHIII or whatever. I start the install process, and am watching it install to C:\Program(x86)\SH3...this is the folder it creates on its own...completely leaving my created folder empty. The second problem I face is when it finishes installing, I get a 1628 error message that it could not finish the install....so okay.....1628 error message is a script based error....haven't completely looked into that yet. The other kicker is this....the program never shows up in my list of programs in my control panel....so there is no way to properly uninstall.

I have run a registry cleaner..to no avail. I am at a loss here, as I'd really like to play this game again. Oh and I have tried all of the compatibility modes...to the tune of "SHIII needs original install of yada yada yada.....to run...."

Hi KvtkptPriess first do not install to default or under programs files. I installed game under C:\ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\ once installed i had to use the Win XP service pack 3 compatibility . I had no problem running the game. I hope I explained it good enough regards LW

when you tried deleting the game did you use the uninstall option from the game install or just the window program manager . The game uninstall should delete all of the files. I think when you reinstall the game the error should be gone. I hope this work regard LW
