I don't really see anything remarkable here, other than a hyperbolesque demonstration of the mechanisms of supply and demand.

I actually found the display kind of encouraging.

Then they got to the front and found that only 2 lines were open.

You could make a fortune selling guns at the parking lot.

I highly doubt that Wal-Mart would allow such an action. Can you imagine the PR nightmare?

Too many liability issues. What if people started an impromptu game of baseball in the lot? Worse, what if they began hitting each other with the bats?

You need to go into the West Eugene (or-gone) walmart around 10 pm, when all the meth head parents are there with their bratty kids.

There has been something similar in Berlin a few years ago (during an electronics store). IIRC, they got a 10% discount or something.
Some people were actually injured and required medical attention.

That's why I shop at Amazon

You know, there's a place I think of as the "Anti Wal Mart." It's the Barnes & Noble in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. An amusing illustration of what this place is like can be reflected by a standing wager a friend and I have on what demographics we may see, for example:

1) how many hot Asian chicks will we see studying wearing
2) Ivy League t-shirts with
3) laptops?

It's not a matter of IF we'll see the above, but how MANY!!!

Now, go into a Wal Mart, and count the fatties wearing WWE shirts, etc.

I did not read any reports of anyone dying on "Black Friday" so I guess it was not as bad as last year.

I just don't see the reason to go. With the economy still in the crapper, there will be huge sales during December. Plenty of good deals and you don't have to wait in line at 0300.
