I am not familiar with German law. If it is illegal to take such pictures without permission than I can understand the issue. If, however, the law permits it, I frankly don't see the issue.

I don't see why you'd want to take such pictures at such a site in the first place...

Well I guess it's just a question of good/bad taste. Better to err on the side of caution in these things.

The Holocaust memorial site is not a historic location. It is just a few concrete blocks in Berlin. AFAIK nothing holocaust regarding happened there so to a lot of people it is just that, a bunch of concrete blocks and nothing more.

If we are going to start subjecting marketing to this standard a lot will have to change.

And, of course, who gets to choose what is in "good" or "bad" "taste"?

I totally agree with Biggles, I don't know why they would shoot there.

But if the law allows it, they should be able to.

No point in discussing this. Either you have the class and sensibility to understand why this was a bad idea and is an example of extremely bad taste, or you have not.

I personally find the "Stelenfeld" unneeded in idea, and lousy in visual execution, btw. But liking it or not is not the point here. However, there have been other examples of thoughtlessness before, from punks smearing on the blocks, over tourists jumping from head to head of the blocks, to people bringing music, dancing and having Gothic picnic between the blocks.

So, lack of class and lack of sensibility goes far beyond Easyjet.

Wow, way to insult and nullify people who may disagree with your opinion.

You either have what it takes to see the bad taste in this story, or you have not. And if you haven't, it says more about you than about me.

Some things are so basic and elemental that it is useless to even wanting to explain them - that's like sowing on a frozen field in mid-winter. the farmer's opinion has little to do with it, he either knows the right time of the year for sowing, or he does not.

Either you have the class and sensibility to see why it is bad taste, or you have not. If it would need an explanation, the explanation necessarily would be wasted.

And that is why you will never learn.

Everything can and should be be discussed as everything has different understandings and interpretations.

A lot can be learned about an issue by trying to understand opposing viewpoints, not despite the fact that they are opposing, but because they are opposing.

Sad that you think the profaning of 6 million deaths for commerical purposes even must be discussed pro and contra, and "must be asked questions about" in order to understand those precious "different views and opinions". But in this case this is your failure, not mine, and not anybody elses. Sometimes things must not be relativised endlessly. Sometimes all that is needed is a clear, uncompromised judgement.

If you can't see that in this given case, I cannot help you. Maybe see some films on the holocaust, or talk to some Jews who had relatives in the camps.

I can't believe this. The same guy who thinks the morality of war can be compared to that of a game of chess is now getting his knickers in a right old twist over a photo shoot, and how it "profanes the death of 6 million people"! I agree the shoot was in bad taste, but I marvel at your priorities, Skybird.

And that post about class and sensibility bordered on flame bait, even though I agree with what you were basically saying.
