Default Questions About the Museum

I am playing with a load of 1.4 Basic SH IV and wondered why only the US ships show up in the musem? Is there a mod to add the other nationality ships?

And is there a way to get the camera to zoom in further on the ships? all seem to have a default stop at some distance.

And.... is there a mod to lower the ships in the water? i am seeing bottom paint on some including the old four piper DD that my grandfather would keelhaul the Master Chief over if he saw the load out presuming that ship is outbound and carrying a supposedly full load of fuel and stores?

thanks for any info on this. Sorry if these are noob questions, i just wondered ...

>>why only the US ships show up in the musem?

There's a drop down menu box along the top edge, middle of the screen.

>>And is there a way to get the camera to zoom in further on the ships? a

By mod.

>>is there a mod to lower the ships in the water?

Old problem, fixed by mods.

>>I am playing with a load of 1.4 Basic SH IV

If you get into SH4, do yourself a big favor and get the UBM expansion. Even if you have no interest in uboats in SH4. The carrot incentive is patch 1.5 which is bundled into UBM.

I have the expansion but i am studying SH IV in the original version for a number of reasons... but thanks for the suggestion.

Can anyone tell me what mod allows the museum camera to go in closer? i dont want any of the supermods at the moment, just wanted to see the models a bit closer in the museum if possible. I can do it in the sim itself I think, but wondered about the museum. thanks

These are very rare antique ships, please do not go beyond the roped off area. Do not touch the displays, do not feed the animals. Children must be under adult supervision at all time.

Well, there are better ways to do it, but a very quick, easy way to get a closer look is S3D, Open library/cameras.dat. Find the museum camera, open the node by clicking +. Find the CameraParams, open and change the AngularAngle value. It will change the perspective a bit but if you try 15 it will get you quite close but you won't be able to back up very far. So it's really just like I said, "A quick and easy way" to get a closer look without much hassle or modding.

THANK YOU! that was just what i needed Peabody. Ya, i iknow they are rare and old but i just HAVETA get in closer, i want to see if the officers are lollygagging on the bridge, and have to see what that Bosun is doing with a squad behind that lifeboat. I really love the detail on these ships, as an old time wargammer with only table top waterline models to play with, these are really amazing.... so i wanted to poke around and try to get some fun screeneis. thanks for the tips.

Sorry Admiral, I thought you were familiar with S3D. Here is a MOD I threw together with the camera change. It will get you close but you can get even closer using the arrow key (shift+arrow to speed it up)

This will let you see what you want and if you want to use Silent 3ditor it will give you a file to play with to see the camera settings. And if you make a mistake you won't mess up the original cameras.dat.

thanks again Peabody, i really wanted to get a close in eyeball of things and that mod helped. I was surprised to see there are few officer uniforms about in any navy. A few, but not many and i may have been mistaken about the few. Also that the US deck crew are not in proper uniform, iwould have thought they would be.

Smile, you're on Candid Camera. Oh, crud, the Admiral is not going to like this, I told you guys to get your uniforms on.

The texture files for these guys (I think) start in the texture folder with "marinar aliat_1_(5) .dds" and there are several Marinar textures, you could change some colors in the .dds file to get something that looks more the way you want it.

Looks more like an Aircraft Carrier with all the different colored shirt. Although I think most of the colors are lifejackets.

thank you Peabody, i guess i did not let them know there was going to be an inspection, but they should be properly outfited regardless of there is an admiral aboard or not. I was pleased to see the IJN maintains good fleet battle line order...

and their bluejackets were very correct in their attire...

though i imagine their CPO will be wondering what they are doing standing about on the foredeck when the fleet is about to go into action....

and i did find a problem aboard one of the auxillaries...

it was aboard what i presume is a civilian transport that was drafted to carry troops aboard during this campaign, at first glance all appears to be well....

however an Admiral did not get to be an admiral by missing the details and upon closer inspection I discoverd TWO hands having a leisurly smoke with the smoking lamp NOT BEING LIT.

I hope they will be up before the Captains Mast.... at least. But i commend the sim on the detail.

looks like the crew is in trouble

At least the gunners stay at their post's while the ship is going down

BTW I don't think you want to know whats going on behind the lifeboat
