Silent Hunter 4 Gold Edition

I just got SH4 Gold Edition, and Windows 7. All was going well, but now I am having save/reload problems. When I try to reload a save, I get to the "Please Wait" Screen, and then the game crashes. Sometimes I can reload the whole game, and then get the save to work, other times I can't. All the patches that I have looked at are for the original SH4 game, can I use them, or is there a specific patch for the Gold Edition that I have missed somewhere?

You have the most up to date version of the game there. Sounds like you are getting corrupted save games. Unfortunately that's been a problem since day one IIRC. The best thing you can do to avoid that problem in the future is...

1.Do not save while submerged

2.Do not save while any ships are around

3.Do not try to save at a time compression higher than 1x

4.Start the save process from the nav map screen.

Thanks, sorta thought it might be like sh3 in that regard......sigh.....hope they fix that for sh5
