Default Will SH5 mimic the black gap and the escorts limitations?

After seeing a documentary about the battle of the Atlantic and the grey wolfs, u-boats, etc. I thought, will the new game mimic the black gap during the first years of the war and the escort’s limitations (number and range) of them?

I would be great waiting and attacking the convoys with no escorts, after the Canadian ones had left and the British didn't arrived yet.

PS: I am sorry if this was already discussed here!

it would be great if this were modeled in SH5

also

1. Destroyers baffles
2. depth charges effect sonar quality for a short time after exploding
3. thermal layers

I hope to see a differece in the behaviour of Escorts depending on wheather -
1) They are alone or in an Hunter killer group
2) They are escorting a convoy (early war)

Reason being is that while the current set of behavior is fine for 1)
its not good for 2)

Convoy escorts job/ orders in the early to mid war was to:
a) Stay with the convoy at all times
b) Attack & Harrass Surfaced U-boats with gun fire to ruin their attacks
c) Force U-boats to dive where they were slower and less able to get into a good attack position

They only time they'd really attempt to destroy a Uboat was when they caught one surfaced (guns) - or while it was diving (DCs - if they were close enough)

But once the Uboat was under - THEY LEFT IT ALONE.

They did NOT break away from the convoy to spend hours DepthCharging the U-Boat until it was destroyed, surrendered or until they lost contact with it.
All the while leaving the merchents to sail off without them.
They simply did not have the luxury of being able to do this. This was especially true when under attack from a wolf pack.

I see! I would be wonderfull if they do this in the new game!

Well said Ju 88.

The lone DDs performing offensive patroling, and the unattached Hunter Killer Groups, should be attempting to hunt us to destruction. That means widening their Search Pattern if neccesary, NOT giving up after xx minutes.

The Escort Commander is not judged by the number of uboats sunk.
Nor whether he sinks any uboats.
He is judged solely on how many merchants arrive at destination.

That ain't to hard to achieve is it?

I've been reading up on Uboat.net, my question is how many DC did they carry and (specially later in war) how many would they drop on a U-boat?

Well said Ju88! Sometimes when there are three escorts attacking me as I try to creep away, I think what a great time it would be for another boat to attack.

New thought. Wouldn't it be awesome to stumble on one of those rare ocassions where you come across a convoy, only to notice that all the escorts are well aft, bombing the bejeebers out of another u-boat?

Depending on the ship, as few as 12 or as many as 36 early war, and up to 120 later.
