What is your tonnage record?

I was just wondering how many tonnage is your record during the war?
I myself started in the very beginning of the war and already now in august 1940 i have almost 400 000 tonnes.
I also got 2 lucky battleships and THE HOOD in gibraltar just now!
I was trying to get through it like in das boot and thought let's go look whats in the harbor and bingo!
also found the hms rodney during the dunkirk evacuation in the channel.
and during weserubung i found a renown class.
I just sail around for decades looking for every ship i can.
I use type VII C now.
I believe that i can reach 1 million tonnes by the end of the war.
Happy times are coming to an end but if i see that i will have 500 000 in one year my odds are very optimistic
So please tell me what's your record and what is your main harbour?
I will switch to the norway bases when possible.
I want to sail between the icebergs for the first time

I'm at 488,496 = 90 ships (50 Merchants/40 Warships), the date is November, 1942..hopefully I'll reach at least 800,000 tons by Mid 44...It all depends on luck...I'll try to hunt for Troopships getting ready for D-Day when the time comes

At the moment i'm near 600 000 tonnes already and i'm in march 1941
I play very aggressive and i search for convoys.
even the destroyers look confused to my actions.
I sail straight ahead at full speed submerged then dive to 20 meters under a merchant then immediately back to 13 meters and fire some more torps
it gives me just enough time to fire at least one and sometimes 2.
And that gives me probably 15 000 extra tonnes.

However the happy times are over now so it's getting more difficult for me now and the merchants are armed now.

I'm saving enough renown now to buy a type XXI
i'm back at 7200 now after purchasing the type IXb
i still got enough time to get to the 21 000 i guess ?
with a small calculation i can see 1000 renown for each month so that gives me only for 1941 9000 renown left.
At least.
And then its still 2 more hard years and longer so i guess i will surely get my top sub. and still be able to improve my type IX
My crew is extremely experienced now

OK,,, in a single mission,,, 140,000 tons. I'm new to the game, so it doesn't really count as I have the realism low,,, around 30%. I've had the game about 3 weeks,,,so I'm still learning. Actually I've had it for years,,, but never even opened it. But,, a few broken bones and some recoup time,,, and this bad boy has made the last three weeks fly by. So far,,,

30 missions, late 1942, and I'm close to 2,000,000 tons. And yes,,, it's starting to get boring. I'm torn between running it out to the end of the war,,, or starting over with a higher realism.

But,,, I'm still in nube mode.

Well, WELCOME ABOARD!

Hope you heal fast and right (but not fast enough that your play time ends too soon).

For more realism, try GWX3 and SH3 Commander. The one will change how you play the game, and the other will change how you think of it.

Well,,, I've been thinking about it. But I don't know if the hardware can handle it. I've got a magic cheat working right now,,,,

if I get within a hex of a convoy,,, running max compression,,, the puter lags. Hence,,, slow down,,, periscope depth,,, and work the sonor guy until you find it. Then cherry pick the fat tankers,,, dive deep,,, and get the heck out of there.

Where can I find more info on the mod's you mentioned?

oh,,, and is this a site for "purist",,, the 100% all the time realism guys,,,, or is there room for "hackers" too?

If you want to 'cheat' (your word not mine) then try the SpySat mod for GWX3.0 and you'll be able to see EVERY convoy on the map.

Welcome aboard btw.

On the other hand SH3Gen would be an excellent substitute for SpySat. This program creates quite a realistic atmosphere. All one has to do is to adjust the amount of intelligence he's going to receive and its reliability depending on the year he sails with his U-boat. IMHO its fun.

I started in '39 full realism (as far as possible ) and to date 14 august '42 i have sunk 664167 tons of shiping. Few neutrals but all in rules of engagement. Total of 126 ships (2 of witch warships (no BB,CV , only a DD and an aux.cruiser).

If we assume i survive to the end of the war i guess i can get really close to the milion but that is a loooong shot.

I forgot to mention GWX3 + OLC

I've used SH3Gen for about 2 year now and continue to use it on one of my installs....but one thing it can't do is show you the precise location in real time and update it regularly whilst your out on patrol.

SH3Gen is a great programme btw

I wouldn't like that 'cause it seems fairly unrealistic to me. But that's just me.

180k tons in a single patrol with a type IX, in late 40. Most of it was in the same convoy, about 10 Large Merchants. One torp each then finish them after they were left behind. Large Merchants are especially vulnerable to deck guns if hit properly (20 hits are neough to sink one). Also quite a few unescorted Granville types. Easy work with the deck gun at close range.

At the end of that career I had more than 2 milion tons to my name. That was the last time I've played as merchant killer. Since then I only sink warships. SH4 is better for this due to the vast number of task forces. The best patrols in SH4 were beyond the 100 k mark.
