Quote:
NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — Police say a worker with the activist group ACORN who was caught on video giving advice about human smuggling to a couple posing as a pimp and a prostitute had reported the incident to authorities.
Carefully note the time line

Anyone thought about which other institutions and companies are now going to be thoroughly scewed due to the new legislation which is aimed at Acorn?

BTW what legeislation, all I've seen so far is a slap on the wrist and some well positioned scowling.

How this would effect the defense industry is beyond me.

I know it will impact Low income housing, election engineering, evidently the skin trade.

HR 3571

Its in the badly written language, most of the major defence contractors would be barred from getting any government contracts as they can all fall into the very broad designations under section 2(b)

Then again the whole bill may well be deemed unconstitutional.

A self-run investigation is not a substitute for an independent investigation," said Issa, the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. "There is no adequate substitute or mechanism that can replace the immediate need for congressional committees to exercise their oversight prerogatives and conduct hearings into ACORN's management and use of taxpayer dollars.

No, HR 3571 introduced into the house in the 1st session of the 111th congress
So Sept 15th 2009 to be precise.
You do realise that for example HR 1 this year is not the same bill as last years HR 1 which is also not the same bill as any other years HR 1?

Thanks Thomen

Isnt it already in the books that Defense contractors may not contribute to campaigns, nor if sanctioned for some infraction were 'cut off'.

No I dont see the inference here. Could you spell it out for me?

By the way you have to admit this is a major blow to the democratic party. Acorn was a keystone.

The section I mentioned is so broad in its definition it covers just about every organisation that does business with or for the government and the stipulations for what constitute wrongdoing covers just about every regular political/business practice used by the defence industry
