Default Graphic artifacts in Alien vs Predator 2

I already posted this on the nVidia formus, but they're dead.
The problem is quite simple: weird lines stretching from polygons and the alien's pheromone-vision halos. No overclocking on the GPU or the CPU, game is updated, graphic drivers are updated.
I already tried changing the graphic settings, but nothing works.
I hope somebody here knows something about this problem.
Thanks!

Didnt have any problems with it 2 years or so back when I played it with a nvidia card (8800). Might help if you list your card & operating system.

Is your video card set to force AA or AF? That sometimes makes problems.

I have Win XP SP3 and a nVidia GeForce 8600GT. Latest DirectX and latest drivers. AA and AF are set to "use application preferences" on the nvidia control panel. AvP2 doesn't have AA or AF in its graphic options.

Hmm... it was winXP SP2 that I used back then... my rough guess would be the new drivers. Nvidia has the bad habit of taking out support of older games as they move forward with their drivers.

I'll see if I can test the game over the weekend on my 9600 + Win7 machine, if it works, then you ought to look at your PC to see what's causing it.

Some times this can be a sign that your graphics processor is going bad. my 7900gtx started doing it after a year and a half of use, and it got progessivly worse as time went on.

If you have had it overclocked and setting back doesn't fix it try setting the clocks lower than the standard speed, I did this to one of my cards that was doing the same sort of thing, and fixed the problem, then had to run with reduced speed till I could afford a new one. Hopefully it is not stuffed!
Good luck!

haha brings back memories i had the same problem with that game the lines are coming out from your character kinda like how light goes threw a crystal effect, you can still move around but your got all these lines all over the place - annoying! Yep the fix for me was change gfx drivers (nvidia) although i did have a crappy card back then Geforce 4 MX = just bad for gaming. I went back to an older type driver and problem was solved - but i think there would be a number of ways to solve it like mention here the AA AF is turned off or reinstalling Directx. Rolling back to previous drivers is one way to fix.
