SH4 Crashes after the Ubisoft trailer

I have a problem. I just installed SH4, but when I run it, after the Ubisoft trailer, the game crashes and gives the error report. I tried to start the game again and again but it crashes always.

Help!

check your mods. if it's not the mods re-install
this is an official copy is it not?

I havent got any mods for SH4, and its official copy.
I managed to start it if I run it from it's folder

If you can start it from the folder is it sh4.exe you double-click?

Check the shortcut properties. On a typical install SH4 wants to use gu.exe which phones home to UBI to check for any updates. (That's why it's called "Autopatch system" if you hover over gu.exe in the program's folder) I always edit my shortcut to use SH4.exe and manually install any updates.... the add-on 1.5 is it if you bought 1.5, otherwise 1.4 is it.

The 1.5 U-boat add-on is definately worth it even if you only play fleet boats, but that's another subject.

Maybe your firewall is blocking gu.exe from phoning home for example. Anyway, try editing the shortcut to use SH4.exe.

Your shortcut is probably linked to the "check on-line for updates" file (as noted above). I'd delete that one and make a new shortcut from the .exe file you found in the game folder.
