Its a wierd one... i saved while on the surface and exited the game, with 1 contact in the area, which was a plane just detected on radar... Then i reload it 5+ hours later and it crashes at the very end of load with "sh3 has experienced a problem and blabbity bla bla bla" message. I know its fixable, I read it on the forums a LONG time ago while i was stilling trolling about. So how do you fix it?

IIRC don't be near anything when you save. I guess that means a plane too.

This makes no sense, sometimes you are right and it's the best NOT to save when an enemy is near (ask your WO) ... no one in sight, save!

However, there are times that I saved during a large convoy in sight (and sent a message to BdU), that's why the whole saving system is soooo strange.

Furthermore, it can be (saving a game) with GWX, NYGM, LSH3 or WAC. I personal think it has to do with SH3 Commander.

Start your last save game in the directory sh.exe (double click) and probably you will be able to resume.

Thank you, but where is the directory? I'm no good with computers, only Guns in real life.

OK.

1. Double click on My Computer (in Windows XP).

2. Double click on Program Files.

3. Go to folder Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII

The standard installation of the game is C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII

Double click on sh3.exe

Wait for loading!

odd one indeed, i recently saved in new york harbour, underwater surrounded by ships (most of them sinking ) and still managed to load it without issues.
there's no consistancy to the bug, we can only hope ubi release the SDK and we'll fix it ourselves

The SDK would probably be of no use to anyone other than those playing the stock/vanilla version of the game.

The super mods that have evolved over time have rewritten many of the game engine related files.

Then stop using it, rather than continuing to blame it, despite the many, many posts on this forum dating back to 2005 that would seem to suggest otherwise.

Either that or search the archives and become better informed on the issue.
