I am absolutly amazed at the sheer amount of chatter and noise over a sim that was just offically announced a week ago.
It shows a high level of excitment and great expectations.

Why? Don't you remember the SH3 and SH4 releases?
But you're right, it is a good thing that people are so excited.

I guess this is like the Star Wars forums when a prequel is announced. And, like those same forums, it will be filled with threads arguing whether the series has been desecrated or not. Only thing is, we can at least take steps to improve the end product if we feel it lacking. Star Wars fans, OTOH can only scream "Ffffuuuuuuuuh-!"

Yeah, lots of chatter, and it does seem to be occuring a lot earlier than with previous releases.
Gives me some mixed feelings... Of course, excited that the series has another chapter and looking forward to seeing how the game interface evolves. Amazed with the preview... And at the same time, maybe a little worried over the FPS role playing. I wonder if we'll have the option to start at our desk or on the boarding plank? Do I threaten to shoot my engineer after a DC attack? Just hoping they manage to pull it off without dropping or automating the simulation side of the game. I've read some discussion about the new attack map being visible while at the periscope. And the tactical nav map having arrows that indicate target direction as well as ship detection radius circles that expand and so forth based on how noisy or detectable you might be. Not sure how that'll play with the "gimme a pencil and a map" realism junkies. Certainly looks like the most ambitious effort to date. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be some canned FPS adventure-style game. If they announce an X-Box version, I guess we'll have our answer. I'm going to stay optimistic though... |

One thing it does prove is the huge following and interest level in said release.
