Is there any way to install the game in either 640x480 800x600 or 1024x600?
I always get "Cannot initialize 3d engine" error ![]() Last edited by pepper0481; 05-14-09 at 07:47 PM. |

So is there any known way to play at these resolutions? I managed to install the game by connecting to a external monitor but I would much rather use the laptops display lol

it could be that your monitor is set to 59hz. i got the same error for that reason. setting it to 60hz fixed it for me.

I doubt it has anything to do with the screen resolution. Do you have D3DOverrider running in the system tray?

Hi, Thanks for the replies,
My refresh rate is 60Hz or at least my settings are saying there 60Hz lol it can't be set to anything else. I think it is the resolution thats the problem, my netbook cannot display anything above 1024x600 and Silent Hunter III forces the program to use 1024x768 so I get an error when trying to launch, which sucks cause I use to play this game when it first came out and it's such an amazing game. I'm now trying software for the ASUS EEEPc that can force a 10inch monitor to display 1024x768 with no scrolling or panning. |
