The kit to make these is quite cheep now.

Just a tripod that moves the camera and some software to stitch the images
and correct the perspective.
Always great results.

Photoshop CS4 has a very cool option to make a sphere and wrap an panorama picture on it. You can then use the 3D controls to look around making it look like you are 'there'.

Impressive what they can do these days.

Of course my grandpa said that about the airplane.
