Hello Sailors,
I need a hand, I have been gone for a bit and wanting to update mt SH III. First this game does run on Vista correct? If not then I am waisting my time ![]() Now I am not the type to torpedo maually, I was never good at it, so i do need autocalculation still available (Some mods disable this). I am also concerned about mods conflicting with other mods ![]() Thanks, Con |

SH3 will run in Vista. If you have the recent "gold" edition that usually sells as bargain software and already is patched to 1.4b on the disc, then you'll have very little trouble.
On the other hand, if you have the original v1.0 DVD, Vista will require jumping through quite a few more hoops if you can even get SH3 to run at all. The trouble has to do with the version of Starforce that comes with the game being incompatible with Vista. ![]() Vista 64 is a whole 'nother can of worms with its own quirks and tricks to properly install SH3 so it will run. ![]() I refer you to the stickied thread here: Windows Vista: Installing SH3 and Patching 1.4b GWX has reached the 3.0 milestone. The last and final GWX for SH3. It's better than ever with the usual mountain of add-on mods. Of special note are the mods: OLC GUI Gold, Lifeboats & Debris 4b, Rubini's Water Streams, and just about anything by Wreford-Brown, VonDos, and Hitman. If I were you, I'd hurry over to www.thegreywolves.com and check out their teaser screens for GWX 4 : Atlantic Battlefield, their most ambitous work yet for SH4 v1.5 (U-boat Missions Addon). War Ace Campaign (WAC) has reached 4.0 and still one of the greats with a growing community of add-on mods, many adopted from GWX. NYGM, that venerable old war-horse, has gotten to version 3.2 and still concentrates on realism and playability over eye-candy. They've got a playable type XXIII! A relative newcomer, Living Silent Hunter 3 (LSH3) has released v4.0 just last month. Developed by German fans over at Ubi.de, it's an impressive blend of many great mods, has hi-res textures with an eye to the fine details, and emphasizes realistic touches to life aboard a u-boat (hence the "Living" in Living Silent Hunter 3). The manual still needs an english translation, though. There are others, of course...24 Flottille, Mas Edition Grupsom, etc... For multiplayer, some flotillas have sailed off into the sunset but 9th and 11th are still around. Steelsharks is coming on strong with an idea of combining career and multiplayer missions into an overall career that reflects a commander's participation in wolfpacks and patrols. ComSubsPac has seen a tremendous amount of growth in the last few months and has partnered with Subsim to promote multiplayer SH gaming as well as events open to the entire SH community. Check out the new Silent Hunter Multiplayer section here at the Radioroom if you're curious for a more complete picture. Welcome back to the U-bootwaffe! I hope you'll have SH3 up and running in no time. ![]()
