Default Problems with running the game on different resolution on widescreen LCD

Hi!

I'm having some problems when trying to play the game on my LG 37" LCD TV.

I have connected to the LCD with a analog VGA standard screen cable directly to the TV. Everything works fine setting the resolution to 1920 *1080 and 1024 * 768.

I would like to use a lower widescreen resolution than 1920 * 1080 because the game will have higher FPS. I don't want to use 1024* 768 because the image will stretch.
I get a lot of different options in the game:
1024*768
1280*768
1280*800
1280*960.....

I have tried these, but it only seems like 1920*1080 and 1024*768 works.
I get a black screen and must Ctrl. Alt, Del and end the game.

Can anyone give me some help?

Is it a fix or maybe a program to use or something?

Thank you very much

I would say it depends on your LCD (TV, I guess) what kind of resolutions it can accept. The black screen is a hint that it can't do those intermediate resolutions.

You can try this in Windows itself - set the desktop to these resolutions, it will revert back 10 seconds later when you do not confirm. It likely is NOT a problem of computer or game then.

actually your not imagining it, the game only likes to be set to 1280x960 with my 22" even thou my monitor is actually set to 1680x1050

you just find the best for what suits your monitor and use it.

silent hunter doesnt work with just any settings so you have to use trial and error.

I'm not sure if this will help but I'm fiddling with my fresh install of SH4 on my 24" NEC. I discovered you must exit the sim and restart to see the graphics changes take effect. I have mine running at native resolution of 1920x1200. My nVidia control panel is set to control scaling and aspect instead of the monitor's controls. I needed to do this to keep SH3 at 4:3 so I don't get any screen stretching. SH4 has widescreen support which is fantastic so far.
