Hi
Looking through the ship files, it seems somewhat to make sense question, when exporting the model, shold the model be keel at the water surface and then "sunk in" using the draft settings, or should it be built to water at the correct water level and then type in drafts? thanks again all

It should be built with the water level on the 0 point on the appropriate axis.
Import another ship into your scene and compare the two. Remember to export the coordinates and rotation as they are with no changes.
