Manual charting in stock version - how?

I'm playing SH3 stock atm since I can't get my stupid Valve-delivered 1.4 copy to run GWX

I've got realism set to 88% with only God's Eye enabled but want to progress to 100%, as I find it childishly simple to plot and intercept targets with this crutch - but without this aid it gets terribly tricky.

How do I mark bearing to target on the navchart since there is no bearing tool as in the (partial) TDC toolhelp? And how do I determine heading and speed for a target BVR based on two or more bearing readings when I don't know the range?

Boy do I feel stupid.
