Default Radio Stations

I've added Captain Midnights CBS station pack and installed it with generic mod enabler. I started a game in Hawaii in 1942 and then got the radio graphic up, clicked on next station and the tuner scans past 30.00 until it returns to the Washington station. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to tune the radio directly without scanning? I tried to make sure that I was in the correct time frame for the station to be there and, I thought, Hawaii would at least close enough for domestic reception. So, what am I not thinking of? Thanks in advance.

I haven't played enough to have an answer for you, but at least I get to be the first to say WELCOME ABOARD!

I've experienced a similar problem. Note that most of the stations work with "events"..These are time dependent, and unless you also have added music inside the folder, there will be dead air until such time as an event is triggered, then a newscast (or whatever) will play. Supposedly, if you add music files to the folder, they will play randomly until an event is triggered. For some reason, it (song randomization) does not work for me.

As far as tuning, there is no way I know of, to tune stations other than the scan. What you can do though, is use time compression and then it will find the station rather quickly. Another note...I have found that when scanning for one of my secondary channels, it will most times pass the frequency the station is set up for. I tried tuning back the other direction and it still passes it by. The funny thing is, if I let it scan all the way to the end as far as it will go, and THEN go back, it finds it every time. You may want to try that. Captain Midnight would be the guy to refer your problems to. I would try using a P.M. to ask him, although, he's pretty good at reading any posts with "radio" in them. He'll probably chime in here. Good Luck Matey!

There is some file that has to be edited manually in order to get these to work.

I believe the mod comes with a readme file that explains it.

Never done it myself as the files are freakin massive.

All radio stations include readmes. These contain installation instructions, more information, and the channel info you'll need to copy and paste into the "radio.ini" in order to hear the radio stations.

Hey bigpez, after you get it running let me know what you think of the CBS station pack - there are so many to choose from and no way to sample them first before the big download.

Thanks and welcome!

That's what it sounds to me like. You didn't put the info into radio.ini. If you did put it in, where did you place it? Stations have to be in order by frequency. They won't play if they're not in the proper order.

As for having the radio start on a specific station, you can do that. At the top of the radio.ini file is this line:

StartCh=1

Say you have 6 stations installed, and you want the radio to always start on the 3rd one. Just change the 1 to a 3, then save. That's it!

If interested, I made a radio compilation mod with 9½ radio stations, which all will run from August 1938 till August 1945.
The ½ is an update of Washington, and well the rest is a mix of different channels. All ready to go, no need to manually adjust the ini file, unless you wanna add more radio stations. And the scanning from one to the next is only 6 frequencies, maybe not realistic, but less time consuming. Regarding the CBS, well, during my rework, I discovered several errors in the original events txt file, which I have corrected, and I merged CBS with NBC, though that is not correct either, it will however make that channel much more event crowded on specific dates such as on D-Day and Dec. 7th.

I got the cbs radio to work. I just ignored the generic mod enabler and put all the files into the sound/radio files myself. Now the radio folder has both the Washington and CBS folders in it along with the new .ini file. Works fine now. Now, what about the 9.5 station add-on? Can I simply drop that into the radio folder without messing anything up?

I'm not sure what good the generic mod enable is. What's so hard about putting the new files into the target path anyway?

Oh, and the radio volume is a bit weak, to say the least! Any way to crank it up? I've already maxed out the option volume.

The only thing I've found that works is to turn up the computer volume before loading the game.

1) If you insist on having this CBS mod you have found and add my 9½ mod too, you can't escape editing the radio.ini file. An easy solution would be to add this in the end of my radio.ini file before enabling with JSGME:

[CHANNEL]
Name=CBS
Folder=CBS
Freq=52
Antenna=01.01.1930-01.01.2000:34.05,-118.22:100000
MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01

2) Yes, the JSGME mod enabler is the best solution for mods in case, a mod user (or maker) should F*ck up during installation

3) In sound options before starting a patrol, but also during patrol by hitting ESC, you can set the volume for voice, sound effects and music AFAIR, so crank the music up and radio volume should be better.
