I picked up a *FREE* Kenwood Cinema EQ VR-615 dolby digital surround sound unit with 5 high output speakers and a massive sub woofer.

Tried it out at near max output on my big screen watching the invasion scene in saving private ryan.

i damn near ducked under my couch!

I need to hit the store tomorrow and pick up some cables for it to run from my sound card to the equalizer.

then its on! its going to be the primary sound system for my PC

cant wait for my first big engagement, pinging and subsequent depth charging attack with this thing on!!

It makes a tremendous difference to the whole game. My new computer has a 7/1 sound card but when I ordered it I stayed with my old 19" monitor and my old 2/1 speakers, a twin pair of Logitech speakers + woofer. It was OK, but...

... so over the past couple of months I've added a new 22" Samsung monitor and also bought a set of Creative 7/1 speakers - 1 woofer on the floor, speakers at either side of monitor, one speaker centre under monitor, speakers on both sides level with my ears, and two rear speakers, a total of eight altogether. The immersion is absolutely fantastic and has really renewed my interest in the game, hence my more frequent postings of late. (I've also started watching movies on the computer again rather than the TV screen.)

On top of this I have my Saitek red illuminated keyboard for night play in the dark; my new Kaleun's cap (cost me a small fortune from a US supplier) though this is too clean and white so I must start wearing it when doing dirty jobs about the house. I also need to get some salt water on the gold braid and anchor button badges. :rotfl:

Hell, you only live once and your a long time dead. (The family inheritence is gradually being spent on maintaining my U-boat arm! )

Im linked to 32inch samsung tv and full cinema surround sound it BLOWS your socks off drives the wife mad but who cares
