Tonnage Award Mis-tally

Hi All,

This evening I had a rather succesful run-in with a convoy, or so I thought until reviewing the patrol log. It seems that the tonnage figures don't tally between what was sunk (as plotted on the chart) and what is recorded in the official patrol log.

Here is the chart showning 9 sinkings:

And here is the official patrol log showning 5 sinkings:

Has anyone else seen this?

This is SH3 GWX3.

Thanks,
Dud

Hmm puzzling. Were these merchants armed? I noticed three of the sinkings are within 1 or two minutes, yet there is some distance between where they sank. Could some of the merchants have been taking friendly fire from the convoy?

One of the ships sunk is in black instead of red. I haven't played with contacts on in awhile. I know red is for enemy, blue friendly and green is neutral. Not sure what black signifies.

Was it storming. Its possible you damaged the ship but the game attributed the sinking to storm conditions instead. Just making stabs in the dark until someone more knowledgeable comes along.

Ahhhh.....you may be onto something Otto.

I was chased into the midst of this convoy by 5 destroyers - very calm seas. Since this was a very close quaters battle (300m to 500m) from any given merchant (all armed - yes), I was most certainly easily noticed. I do recall an awful LOT of cannon fire trying to take my periscope off so I think you may very well be right - this is a case of friendly fire. Although I like to think my torpedo's (every one got a hit) did most of the damage

BTW : grey/black plots of sunken ships are those you hear to sink, as opposed to watching them sink, I believe. I get a lot of these when sinking ships in poor visibility conditions (e.g. heavy fog).

Thanks,
Dud

SH3 CMDR will randomize the tonnage; Sometimes you will come upon a convoy which has been attacked by other U-Boats or air and ships will be sinking or burning.
Those sunk by others will appear in black, not red (although I think you get the credit??? if you put a torpedo or shell into it).
Or, perhaps, your OX is dyslexic.
