Default Screen resolution question ?

Hey there

I know there is a solution for this somewere but
been search for a wile and I guess or its removed or
in a SubSim hiden place....

How can I change the games window from 1024 x 768 to

1280 x 1024 ....

I find a lot of streched images some time cause my actual
screen resoulution is 1280 x 1024 and the original game resoulution is the
standart 1024 x 768...

Can any one please point me the right direction...or tell me
how can I change this...

The resolution JCWolf is talking about is still the original 4:3 I think, not wide, are you referring to the HiRes mod if so is it for XP SP1 or higher, makes a difference.
I have sent it to you by email, as long as it is still valid.

I use the Resolution Fix:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...7&postcount=42

You can change the resolution to whatever you want, but Alt+Tab won't work anymore and the Keys F9, F10 & F11, too. (But this is a minor problem than the Alt+Tab problem, in my eyes. I've just changed my key settings.)

No sweat: http://rapidshare.com/files/19720056...s_Mod.rar.html
or http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=6...4e75f6e8ebb871
Don't forget the most important thing if you didn't know, set your systems AA not to Application Controlled but forced, 4x is good enough, and if your card is good do it to AF as well, Cheers.

I too use the resolution fix. Just the .dll and the cfg. files though as I use Vista x64. The Alt+Tab still functions. I did lose F9/10/11 but I regained them by using Alt+F9/F10/F11 without changing key settings or anything.

I have Vista 64 sp1 and when I install the resolution fix (for XP) SHIII won't load; any suggestions?

Not really. Sorry. I simply dropped those two files in the appropriate folder and set the resolution to what I wanted in the cfg file. No problems. I do not use a wide screen res however. I can live with the black bars at either side more than I can live with the squish of round objects. I always load sh3 through sh3 commander and have the intros disabled.

Edit: I will try something asap, later today or over the weekend. I have sh3-1.4 installed on a cd. I will copy it to another folder with no mods and see what happens when installing the res fix.

Tried it. Made no difference, sh3 still loads okay from the new location. I use 1360x1024. Not a big difference in appearance from the original 1024x768. In fact, the km scale in the lower left of the nav map and the quadrant id letters are actually less sharp, for whatever reason. I also use 4x aa. Think I'll try adding some anisotropic also just for fun.

Just fyi, the stretching and distortion is impossible to get rid of at the moment. What the res fix does is to increase the resolution to whatever you set it to, but the viewport is still 4:3 and just gets stretched to the higher resolution. The result is, at least at my end, much better and sharper than if you'd let the GPU do the stretching, but on a 5:4 monitor(for example 1280x1024) it naturally results in circles being ovals etc. Looks like Rubini's fix might indeed be a way out of this, but only for wide-screen users at least for now.

I finally tried the res fix and it works. I don't like to run things I don't know what they're doing so after researching what the sdbinst.exe file was and what it does and picking apart the SH3.sdb file I felt more comfortable running the .bat file. I did make one change to the .bat files:
remove the -q to take away the quiet mode. Now you'll get a messagebox pop telling you whether it installed or uninstalled. I didn't like that I ran the .bat file and it didn't tell me anything. I wasn't sure if it worked or installed/uninstalled.
