I think TMO was the premier mod all year until about December. Now, with RFB gathering momentum, it will be very interesting for 2009. If RFB, naw, WHEN RFB (the fixes are being tested and compiled now) fixes its periscope locking situation it will be time to rumble toe to toe for the rest of the year. But I agree with their finding, that TMO is the top mod of 2008, not just for Silent Hunter 4, but for all naval simulations. Congratulations, Ducimus! You earned it the old fashioned way: outworking everybody else, including teams, all by yourself.

And it should, because the authors of the two mods work together, not in cutthroat competition, but in cooperation with the only aim to improve the game for all of you players. They get opinionated and sometimes brash, but you have to admit that they share their talents, methods and tools with the whole community for the benefit of all.

It's a shame that Ducimus is not here to enjoy it.

I have used Ducimus' mods ever since the first one--was it Flavored to Taste?--and then subsequently thru all the TM's up to now. There is no way to express how much he increased my enjoyment of the game and increased it's longevity. Great to see such work acknowleged even outside this community.

Congrats Ducimus!!

Yes indeed, "Flavored to Taste" is correct. I too, have been using it from the start and agree wholeheartedly that it has increased playability for me. So much so, that I doubt I'd still be playing if it were not for Ducimus. Thanks again Bud!

That really cool! Congrats, Duci! I recently wanted to do an overhaul of my own with how I used mods for SH4 (I had way too many). I wanted something streamlined and simple. TMO is all I use now (with addition of a few skins and the U-boat speech fix for when I want to play as a U-Boat). I use TMO "straight up" now, if you will. Before I had changed things around but with the new version I didn't want to make those changes again, so I let it be. I'm glad I did. I like it better than the changes I made (Only changes mentioned in the FAQ included with the mod, but changes none the less.). For those using TMO 1.62 (or any really) there is a quick fix Ducimus posted on the Ubi forums about a sea trials issue:

MinimumDaysInBaseUS=21
to this:
MinimumDaysInBaseUS=14

- 2nd sea trial does not reflect current game play.
