Thought I'd share a little intel.....
December 41, based at Lorient, and keep patrolling the western approaches, I keep positioning myself west of Ireland and east of the rockall banks, in an zig zag method running north and south.....cruising at full speed on the surface. The traffic is few and far between, maybe a single ship everyday, I get reports of task forces in the Irish sea, but I keep cruising, the weather gets rough, and I keep cruising in this method. My last two patrols I have ran into two large convoys, both resulting in total tonnage of 68,000 and 62,000 each. The great thing is the first one had the Warspite dead center, the 2nd had the Nelson, it was great, I actually was in perfect position and waited for him to come to me, within 2000 meters while I laid still in the water at PD. It was 1800 hours clear sky 3 foot waves. He must of sensed something he went from 6 knots to 18 in a flash, but I had an eel on the way set to fast speed, and caught him in the props....resulting in him dead in the water. The next one caught him aft and he started listing and putting off sailers in life boats, but still had his search lights scanning for me. I waited for an eternity, but still he didn't slip deeper, so I fired, this one must have hit the boilers, it exploded from stem to stern, and slipped beneath the ways in seconds. 2 liferafts and thats all. I scooted out and home, ![]() |
