I started a fresh career in the 7th flotilla in Aug. 1939. I sailed out of Koingsberg to sink the target ships, did so, and on my return to port I came under fire from the coastal battery! I took a direct hit and was nearly sunk, but was able to recover, sail submerged into the harbor, surface, and quickly end the game. WTF?!?!? I also git negative renown for sinkinig the target ships, and had 3 crewmen Killed!
VERY ANNOYED! this happenened to me twice! I'm just going to start as the 1st now, and transfer to the 7th latter. Anyone else have this issue?

Its because they are neutral ships until the war starts in September. I had the same problem. When you attack a neutral ship any other neutral will become your enemy for 24 hours.

This is the neutral ship issue. Since the war has not started yet all the ships are considered neutral. Germany is neutral too. Because firing on a neutral ship makes ALL neutrals turn hostile for 24 hours, you have only a few choices:
1) Ignore the orders (they are intended for when the game started in September but GWX moved the start date up for some reason) 2) Sink the ships and wait 24 hours for Germany to forgive you 3) Sink the ships but use escape key to return to base instead of actually sailing back 4) Sneak back into base submerged ![]() Personally I just avoid the 7th flotilla in 1939. |

They moved the start date to avoid the glitch where first patrol tonnage isn't recorded. Also to give your men a free qualification.

Weib Pinguin, Hit the nail on the head as usual
![]() Do as Fluffly Sheap Suggests and follow one of the 4 protocols he mentions. You will lose renown for sinking the target ships but the 7th Flottila does get more starting renown than any other Flotilla because of this, as already mentioned. As you will find out if you hang around out on your first patrol till the 4th August as mentioned in your initial first patrol orders, Being in the 7th Flotilla at the start of your career in August 1939 does not last long anyway. But it is good practice for your crew on the deck gun and manual targetting the Torpedoes just before the start of the war. Good Hunting U-48Kriegsmarine ![]() |
