Hovindisms

Not sure if you already know who I'm talking about or not, but I'll get to that in a moment.

A few minutes ago in SUBMAN's thread about Atheists being "morally bankrupt", I mentioned good old Kent Hovind. As some of you might be aware, Mr. Hovind is a young-Earth Creationist and conspiracy theorist who heads the Creation Science Evangelism Ministry. He is serving 10 years in prison for 58 counts tax evasion.

I'm sure many of you can imagine some of the crackpot ideas that Hovind comes up with (including the idea that a gigantic ice shield surrounded the planet when the Earth was created, which was responsible for causing the great flood that Noah had to endure).

YouTube user ExtantDodo regularly does debunking videos of Mr. Hovind's claims.

I hope you find them as interesting and funny as I do (please take careful note of some of the things Mr. Hovind says; they're hilarious at times).

Hovindism #1 - Definition of Evolution

Hovindism #2 - First Law of Thermodynamics

Hovindism #3 - Conservation of Angular Momentum

Hovindism #4 - Entropy

He also did several bonus videos.

Hovindism Bonus #1 - Attacking the Smithsonian

Hovindism Bonus #2 - Creationism in Academia

Here are some of my definitions the way I see them.

98 percent: The percentage of individuals who either do or do not believe in a supreme being and couldn't give a rats anus about whether or not their spiritual views are or are not agreed with. Some of these people go to some sort of religious service, others do not... but all in all they just want to live a happy peaceful existence until they die.

2 percent: The percentage of individuals who will bicker and argue and piss and moan without end as to whether or not their spiritual viewpoint is better or more correct than the rest of the viewpoints.

this "2 percent", constantly posts internet blogs, makes you tube videos, trolls around in various forums, starts wars etc in a pointless existence. why pointless? because no matter how much time they waste trying to convince the "other group" to see things their way... the other group wont budge.

"East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet"

I'll be on the couch with a bowl of popcorn enjoying the show

You didn't find Mr. Hovind entertaining, not at all?

Honestly, I did. He's an idiot.

On the other hand, there were some scientific inaccuracies, or better, ommissions by the narrator as well, but these were inconsequential.

People like this Hovind are nothing more than manipulators, plain and simple. If your ideas are so correct, why bother with misrepresenting the other side?

Nope. Not as long as people feel the need to bend truths (or ignore them outright) to make a point, there won't be a lack of idiots.

The problem comes down to polarization, in my opinion.
